Mixed Media Series at MFA
It's baaaaaack! Yep, for the last few months every time an email from the MFA popped up in our inbox we hoped and prayed it was an annoucement of a new Mixed Media series. This week we were rewarded! Whoo-hoo!
[The Deets]
Find where art and music intersect on select Saturday nights at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. DJs spin and bands play against an arresting backdrop of current exhibitions. The Mixed Media Series returns for its fourth installment with three events July 28, August 25, September 22nd. The fourth Mixed Media Music Series takes advantage of vast opportunities within Houston´s anime, video, and technology communities to look at the globalization of
Asian culture and its impact on contemporary art, music and popular culture.
Get a drink. Get your groove on. Get inspired. Complimentary Starbucks beverages and cash bar at each event.
[The Art]
This series draws its inspiration from RED HOT — Asian Art Today from the Chaney Family Collection, an exhibition that explores the spectacular rise of Asian contemporary art over the past decade. The exhibit offers Texas its first survey of the major currents coming out of the new art centers in Japan, China, South Korea, and Vietnam, as well as responses from the United States and Europe. An international phenomenon, literally "red hot" in its energy and rapid development, Asian art has redefined the parameters of today´s contemporary art scene.
