Last week, Urbanist showed you all the hidden jems that lie in the Lower Montrose area. One of those, the Jung Center, tonight presents innovative multimedia artist Cameron Sands and dancer Paola Georgudis on an exploration of the the spiritual possibility in every corner of our city.
Is there truly creative potential in every space? What about the concrete area around a trash dumpster in an alleyway – or a place you pass by every day which you care to know nothing about?
Join artist Cameron Sands for a lecture/video presentation on All is Well, his collaborative project with dancer Paola Georgudis, in which they explore the creative possibilities in the spaces around us.
In this project, Cameron documented improvised dances by Paola Georgudis in a variety of locations in and surrounding the city of Houston and began work on a series of mixed media art pieces and video. As he will discuss in his presentation of their work, he found not only creative potential in every space, but a sense of spiritual possibility in all that surrounds us.
About the Artists
Cameron Sands is a visual artist who lives and works in Houston. His disciplines began in painting and sculpture. His main influences are the impressionist, minimalist, and op artists. With a great love for film, he began making short videos several years ago, about the same time he was introduced to dance.
In the fall of 2006, he collaborated with dancer Paola Georgudis, of the Dominic Walsh Dance Theater, on Illumina. All is Well is their second project together. Paola has danced professionally in both Chile and the United States. She is also a certified Pilates instructor in Houston.
