Houstonist took it on the chin with another late night out on the town. Don't ask. What happens out there stays out there. We missed our alarm. We showed up late for work. The office coffee pot was broken so we headed to Starbucks to get a jump start. Our caffeinated bliss was tainted after we learned about the nine cent price increase that is now in effect. While we agree with Lewis Black that Starbucks may signal the end of the universe, we can't seem to find any cool locally owned joints in the tunnels or The Park Shops. Somebody hook us up.
>> Zindler is remembered by colleagues and community: Marvin Zindler's colleagues and fans logged their memories of the man on ABC13's website. President Bush even weighed in with his thoughts about Zindler's humanitarian efforts. For those of you not familiar with the flamboyant yet philanthropic investigative report, check out some video highlights from his career.
>> "Sorry" makes it right for Katy ISD: Remember the 12 year-old who wrote "I love Alex" on the wall and was then sentenced to alternative education? Well, she's free on her own recognizance since Katy ISD has accepted her apology. Instead of reporting for four months of schooling at an alternative school, young Shelby Sendelbach will create a poster campaign urging her classmates to keep the school clean. If that doesn't work they could always try having her write lines Simpsons style: "I will not get busted tagging the school. I will not get busted..."
>> TSU is seeking a new president: Retired General J. Timothy Boddie, Jr. is at the helm of the beleaguered university for the time being, but University Regents Chairman Glenn Lewis stressed that TSU should focus on finding the right individual to hold the job permanently. Lewis will likely step into the role when Boddie steps down after having been brought in for damage control in the wake of the scandals. The search for a new university president may take up to a year. Hopefully they can find someone interested in helping the university instead of themselves.
