The end of summer break may be nearing for many, but that doesn't mean the good music is. In fact, we have seen some great new releases over the past few months, and we included some of those in this month's Houstonist iMix -- our collection of songs that we currently dig.
The set starts with a track from Austin's own Spoon, from their latest album, Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga. You'll also find indie-rockers Blonde Redhead's title track from their critically acclaimed new disc 23. Also included is a new track from Nebraska-born, now Spain resident and singer/songwriter Josh Rouse. A smorgishboard of music includes a few electronic based tracks (Peaches, The Go Find, Luxxury), more indie tracks (John Vanderslice, American Analog Set), classic R&B (Aretha Franklin), classic jazz (Charlie Parker), and others.
Houstonist hopes you download the whole iMix, so you can impress your friends with your wide range of music taste. But, we know some of you are picky, so feel free to download individual tracks. Leave us a comment and let us know what you think!

Missed Connections: Gefilte Fish...and "Chain Connections"

I dig the iMix.
This is awesome...I'm downloading it!
I was just listening to that Peaches song again. Man, Peaches sure sounds a lot different without Herb...
