The Dynamo continued their winning ways last night when they took on DC United at Robertson Stadium. While the Dynamo’s offense (and the fans) started off a little out of sorts, the defense remained strong throughout the game. DC continued to drive to the goal in the opening minutes, but Zach Wells remained poised in the box. In the 37th minute Sugarland’s own Stuart Holden had a very exciting shot on goal which just bounced off of the near post. This would mark the turning point for the Dynamo offense. Coming out of halftime, the Dynamo seemed much more composed and coordinated and in the 50th minute Brian Ching had beautiful touch off a pass from the big man, Nate Jaqua, to give the Dyanamo a 1-0 lead and get the 11,000 fans in attendance on their feet. This would be the only goal in the game and the only one needed for the Dynamo to advance the semi-finals.
For the Semi-Finals, the Dynamo are set to host CF Pachuca on Tuesday August 14th at 9pm and the LA Galaxy, perhaps with Beckham, will host DC United on August 15th.
Earlier this year the Dynamo played two games against CF Pachuca – one win & one loss - as part of the CONCACAF Cup. Let’s hope the revamped lineup and winning ways are enough to get past CF Pachuca and advance to the Finals for a shot at the $1 million dollar prize.
