Jazz Festival this Weekend

020807_jazz.jpgThe 17th Annual Houston International Jazz Festival is set to take place this weekend (August 3th, 4th, and 5th) in Downtown. This jazz festival is unique in that it is the only festival in the country to focus on international Jazz musicians.

Friday – August 3rd
The Australian jazz quartet, Void will play at the Red Cat Jazz Cafe at 9 p.m.

Winners of the 2005 Perth Jazz Society Award for Most Outstanding Group, Void is one of hottest bands to come out of Western Australia!

Saturday – August 4th
The JazzMasters Tribute, featuring Gregg Karukas (piano/keyboard), Chris Standring (guitar) and Shilts (saxophone) headline the show at Jones Plaza. Also performing is Houston’s own Norma Zentenos and grammy-nominated drummer Bubbha Thomas. The show starts at 5pm sharp and has general admission and a limited number of reserve seats available (tickets).

Sunday – August 5th
To close out the Jazz festival soul artist’s Eric Roberson, Terisa Griffin, and Anthony David perform at 7 p.m. at Jones Plaza. General Admission and Reserve Seats are available (tickets).
