Houstonist Bartender: El Sombrero

20070803_sombrero.jpgA few months ago we told you about a nice alternative to your normal cerveza. This week we'd like to add another weapon to your non-standard beer arsenal - El Sombrero.

The beauty of El Sombrero is in the simplicity. However, this beverage is not for the faint of heart.

This serving option will change more than your latitude if you are not careful. To help bring it home for you, our buddy, T-Bone - a seasoned imbiber, was reduced to a pile of jello after four sombreros during the course of a Monday Night Football game. He slept it off on the three concrete stairs leading up to porch.

Houstonist recommends easing yourself and your buddies into a round of sombreros at the end of the night when you've got no place else to go and your car keys are well hidden in the bottom of your aquarium.

El Sombrero

+ 1 Corona
+ 1 oz. Absolut Limon
+ a lime wedge

Pop the top on the Corona and add the vodka. Note: for extra octane, take a swig of the beer, then add the vodka. Cram the lime wedge into the bottle opening for garnish.

Don't forget to warn your guests that they should mix the vodka a bit by doing the thumb stopper flippy thingy.

Have a drink we should spread to the masses? Send it along [jason at houstonist dot com], and we just may post it after some extensive testing.

Don't be a dumbass. Drink responsibly or take a cab.
