This afternoon and tomorrow, several Houston hotels are holding the ultimate garage sale at the GRB Convention Center, so now's your chance to make your living room a miniature replica of the Hilton Americas lobby. Finally!
Participating hotels include the Four Seasons, the Hilton Americas, and the Hyatt, and they're selling absolutely everything. You'll find furniture, electronics, linens, dishes, etc. and good bargains have been promised (that remains to be seen though). That includes 27" TVs, champagne glasses, couches, mattresses, headboards, and a whole lot more. The garage sale is completely open to the public and admission is free, so why not stop by and look around?
After this sale, all you'll need is valet parking to make your home as ritzy as some of Houston's finest hotels.
For more information about the garage sale, call 713-223-9595.

Am I the only one who would think twice about buying linens from a hotel? Or, for that matter, anything ...
I wouldn't recommend buying linens, definitely. But a television? I think that's safe.
I just forwarded this link to a co-worker. I'm hoping the email filter doesn't freak out when it sees me forwarding a link called "glam_up_your_ho.php"
Okay, I admit it. I jumped on this and headed out to the convention center. Got there at 3pm, and the place was CLEANED OUT like it got looted. The only things left were pillow cases (see comment above) some used coffee makers, odd-shaped doodoo brown throw pillows, some glassware and few other odds and ends. The guy in charge told me most everything was sold within the first hour.
Damn, I'm sorry I missed it. Doodoo brown is one of my colors.
I prefer Budweiser Doodoo brown.........it's, um, deeper and richer.
Yeah, they had a hundred TVs, dressers, chairs, etc. etc. but I heard it was all gone within the first hour. We ended up with a coffeemaker and a nice coffee table though.
Aw crap, I was hoping to snag a dresser and/or a nightstand. And maybe a bunch of "Do Not Disturb" doorknob hangers.
Cleaned out!? Wow. I would've never thought this stuff would've gone so fast.
