Sulking at home tonight because you didn't get tickets to the sold out Ben Kweller show at Walter's on Washington? Come drown you sorrows with the rest of us as Houstonist co-hosts with Squad Car Media the Ben Kweller After Party at Pearl Bar [4216 Washington] --formerly Mary Jane's.

Kweller is often touted as one of the greatest song writers of his generation. In the vein of Tom Petty, Paul Westerberg, and Elvis Costello, his take is uniquely American, quietly Texan, and unmistakably fresh. He's a throwback because of his heartfelt worker approach, and fresh because nobody is doing what he is doing. He captures you by the power of his songs.

We'll get the party started early at Pearl Bar, as we wait in joyful hope for the coming of the man of the night. A DJ Set by Mr. Pink Eyes will make us forget that we missed seeing Ben in such an intimate venue, and $2 Pearl canned beer will help us further wash away our regrets for not getting tickets when they first went on sale. There is no cover for the event, cuz that's how we roll. On the cheap.

If you're one of the lucky ones who we are insanely jealous of got a ticket to the show, hop across the street to Pearl Bar afterwards and tell us all about it. Heck, maybe Ben will tell us all about it himself.

Squad Car Media has brought together a creative bunch to celebrate Kweller's music tonight. A.C. Evans, fresh off his Parisian Gallery Show in the spring, painted Ben's likeness for the artwork. The art is based on the classic 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle rookie card, and was designed by MilkPop.

Adesso Clothing Co. will also stop by to throw out some of their latest designs.

Come early. Come often. Just come. See you there!
