Tax Free Time (and the shopping is cheaper)

taxfreeweekend.jpg

Oh yes, it's tax-free time again - from Friday to Sunday you can shop 'til you a) drop, b) max out your sugar daddy's credit cards or c) buy all the backpacks in sight because they are actually eligible for Tax Free Weekend this year, which makes pretty darn good sense with the whole 'back to school thing' if you ask us (says KHOU).

All you consumers know the drill - for the entire weekend there is no sales tax on clothing, shoes and backpacks under $100. For the first time, energy efficient appliances (and even incandescent fluorescent bulbs) are included in the mix as well, because every kindergarten-er needs a new fridge. You can read a complete list of tax-free items here.

A few tax-free happy spots caught our eye for the weekend (after the break):

Space City Uptown Galleria Weekend
If you are really in this tax-free weekend shopping thing for the long haul, check out the Space City Uptown Galleria Weekend specials that the Houston CVB is offering. Stay the night in an Uptown-area hotel this Friday (tonight) or Saturday and receive discounted rates, complimentary transport to shopping areas and coupons to posh Galleria shops.

Tax-free M2M discount madness
Jean couture lovers M2M are offering an additional 40% discount off your entire purchase during tax-free weekend. Awesome much?

Brand spanking new Buffalo Exchange
Since you're going to be spending money anyway, why not spend it at the cool new Buffalo Exchange location (249 W. 19th St.)?
Apparently we are smoking crack - they open in October!
