Is it possible for one of the worst trades in Astros franchise history to get any worse? Well, it did. The Astros announced that Jason Jennings will be out for the remainder of the year with a torn elbow tendon.
Jennings finishes the year at 2-9 with a 6.45 ERA in 19 games. For the month of August, he is winless with a 8.06 ERA. Jennings was brought over from the Colorado Rockies to compliment Roy Oswalt, but Jennings just couldn't find any luck in his return to Texas, the state he calls home.
"I had an MRI done today, I had an MRI in April," Jennings said. "The one today was pretty much the same. I showed a little more deterioration of the flexor tendon. The MRI showed the ligament looked really good, which is great news, because that's a major surgery.
In exchange for Jennings, the Astros gave up fan favorite Willy Taveras (.311 AVG, 29 SB), Jason Hirsch (5-7, 4.81 ERA) and Taylor Buchholz (6-4, 4.25 ERA). All three have been an intregal part in the Rockies success as they currently sit 2.5 games out of the NL Wild Card lead.

Taveras may be a fan favorite, but that's only because the fans don't understand that he's not very good.
So you wouldn't take an outfield of Willy T, Hunter Pence and Carlos Lee?
In fairness, it's not exactly Brock for Broglio we're talking about here. The Astros gave up 3 so-so players, and obtained a formerly pretty good pitcher. That pitcher probably sucked because he was hurt. Bad. But not the worst.
Well, so far, Willy T. has been a good player. He has a above average arm and speed and he's batting .311. I'll take him back.
I wouldn't mind having Taveras' glove, but I don't really miss his bat. He has to hit above the .300 to have a decent on base percentage because he doesn't walk much, and he has no power at all.
