Houston's Theater District is having an Open House this Sunday, August 26th from noon to 5PM, while also hosting Taste of Downtown, meaning there's lots to sample for free, free, free!

Besides about 40 million performances, there will also be backstage tours, sneak previews of the 2007-2008 Theater District seasons, Q&A's with performers, activities for the kids such as costume trunks and an instrument petting zoo, free refreshments, season ticket information booths and lots of ticket deals.

The Buffalo Bayou Partnership will also be offering 30 minute boat tours on its pontoon, departing from the boat dock near the Sabine Street Bridge.

The Open House and Taste of Downtown will take place at the Alley Theatre (615 Texas Ave.), Hobby Center for the Performing Arts (800 Bagby), Wortham Theater Center (500 Texas Ave.), Angelika Film Center (510 Texas Ave.) and Jones Hall (615 Louisiana Ave.).

You'll get a chance to see the work of Houston’s nine major performing arts organizations: Alley Theatre; Cadillac Broadway Across America Houston; Da Camera of Houston; Houston Ballet; Houston Grand Opera; Houston Symphony; Society for the Performing Arts; Theatre Under The Stars, and Uniquely Houston®.

See the Sam Dinkins III Jazz Quartet, Broadway musical revues, Colombian Folkloric Ballet, The Intergalactic Nemesis, a Kung Fu lesson and the Houston Symphony Puppet Show, to name just a few.

Sample goodies from Cava Bistro, St. Arnold's, Artista, Brennan's and others, all on site at the Theater District.
