Ok, ok, we KNOW we are the fattest city in the universe for like the kabillionth time. We don't need a fancy survey to tell us that. But when it's 120 degrees out and you feel like someone just threw a wet towel on your face, it's a little hard to be motivated to get fit. Ya hear what i'm saying, peeps? We don't see anyone yelling at Antarcticans to get out there and "gimme 20."
One probably doesn't associate "hiking" with "h-town", unless dicussing the trek from the old Galleria to the new wing. Cuz, damn it, that's a bitch.
Hiking is great exercise, and you don’t have to drive outside of the city to find great trails in Houston. There are many flat trails, hills, woods and water along a section of Buffalo Bayou.
This Saturday morning at 8am, join Bayou City Outdoors for a hike around Buffalo Bayou. The group will maintain an easy to moderate pace, with snack & water stops (bring your own), bat viewing, as well as art & sculpture viewing.
The hike will start at Cleveland Park on the north side of Memorial Dr., there is a foot-walkway over Memorial here, and then head towards downtown on the north side of the bayou.
The event is free and open to the public. Just show up. How difficult is that?
