Houston, A Top 10 High Tech City
According to Popular Science, Houston is ranked #10 in high tech cities. Popular Science ranked cities based on 36 technology indicators as well as expert and staff opinions. The best part of this survey is that Houston outranked Dallas, Austin and San Antonio.

Can Nanomagnets Replace Semiconductors?
Dmitri Litvinov, a U of H associate professor of electrical and computer engineering and of chemical and biomolecular engineering in the Cullen College of Engineering has developed technology that could improve computing power by using nanomagnets to replace semiconductors.

You Saw Who At The Airport?
We're not sure how we missed this one, but did you know Luke Skywalker's original lightsaber was flown to Houston last week amid much Rebel and Empire fanfare? The lightsaber made it's way from California to Houston en route to NASA for a trip aboard the next shuttle mission in October. The Houston Chronicle as well as local dunderpate, Mike McGuff got photos of this event.

Chronicle Tech Round Up
Dwight Silverman reports on a recent malicious social networking site that takes questionable means to gain users. The site is called Quechup and if you get an invite you are advised to delete it. Dwight has also been testing and reviewing a new HP desktop, an all in one 'kitchen computer' called the The TouchSmart PC. Meanwhile on the Mac side of the office, Dr. Mac has help for those with aging eyes and over at the Helpline, Jay Lee helps a reader set up a multi-operating system computer.
