Seems like the top of everybody's list, though, is DiverseWorks' 25th Anniversary Kick-off Party tonight. We can't disagree, cuz that's where we'll be.

DW has lots of activities scheduled tonight to help kick-off their 25th year, including:

Houston-based artist David McGee inaugurates DiverseWorks’ 25th year by creating a massive installation featuring sculpture, painting, and video depicting the essence of 25 years of DiverseWorks’ history. Using references from Miguel de Cervantes’s Don Quixote, McGee’s works capture the dreamland that Quixote lived in, the place that DiverseWorks represents to contemporary artists and the major impact it has made to the arts in Houston and beyond.

T0 25! traces two-and-a-half decades of personalities, exhibitions, performances, readings and special events that have shaped DiverseWorks since its founding in the early 1980s. To commemorate the kick-off of DiverseWorks’s 25th anniversary season, artists Patricia Hernandez and Sasha Dela curate an exhibition straight from the extensive (and dusty) DiverseWorks archives. Featuring photographs, audio, video, posters and publications from 25 years of programs at DiverseWorks. To 25! reminds us all just why we love this place so much

Special Event: Rachel Cook "We Are The Perfect Combination"

TONIGHT ONLY!

Cook remakes, "We Are the Perfect Combination" for this special occasion to celebrate 25 years of marriage between DW and the Houston art community. "We Are the Perfect Combination" involves a large homemade wedding cake served on plates adorned with one-of-a-kind messages handwritten in Cook's signature style, and handed out to the public in a one night only event, at the kick off of the 25th anniversary season for DW. So come out and celebrate history with some cake!

Yum. Cake + Art = Happy Houstonist.
