Thriftster: September 10-14

Spent all your cash on girlie drinks and shattered dreams again this weekend, didn't you? No worries - Thriftster gives you the lowdown on cheap stuff to do until Paycheck Friday.

thriftster_graphic.jpgMonday: Fight the Monday blues with booze, munchies and beats. Hit Berryhill Tamales all over the city for cheap-o specials (like $2 fish tacos in Montrose and free tamales with bar drinks in River Oaks). After you've devoured your share, head over to Brasil (2604 Dunlavy) for coffee and Soular Grooves with DJ Sun and DJ Suma.

Tuesday: Check out a free Capoeira performance at the U of Houston Student Center at 12pm by the amazing Brazilian Arts Foundation. Later on, join the lively discussion (with free drinks) at the non profit tech NetSquared Meetup at Stag's Head Pub (2128 Portsmouth St). All are welcome, come with a sense of humor and your laptop.

Wednesday: Make it a Proletariat night tonight - $5 gets you in for Commune Music (local bands take the stage, so bring your guitar if you want to rock along) and $2 Lone Star and Shiner will keep you hydrated.

Thursday: Free sushi and drinks with the AIR Houston opening reception at 713 restaurant from 7-9pm. Hang out with local non-profit groups, companies and supporters as they talk online accessibility. Feeling geeky? Sign yourself up and be one of the cool kids.
