HUGE Houston Roller Derby action this Sunday!! Come to the Verizon Theater for the Governor's Cup, where the Houston Roller Derby, Assassination City Roller Derby, Alamo City Roller Derby, Dallas Derby Devils and Texas Rollergirls will be battling for the title of Best League in the Lone Star State. Tickets for this big event are $20 each and are available at the Verizon Wireless Theater's box office. Doors open at 3:00 p.m. and the action gets "rolling" at 3:30 p.m. This full day of Roller Derby fighting, scrapping and out-manuevering fun will culminate with the title bout, which should begin at 8:00 p.m. Halftime Entertainment will be provided by Big Bang Drummers. The charitable organization slated to benefit from this bout is The Arc of Greater Houston - an organization founded nationally in 1950 that works to advocate the inclusion of all persons with cognitive, intellectual and developmental disabilities in all aspects of society. After the action ends, the after party will be held at Roc Bar, right next door to the Verizon.
