This month Buffalo Bayou Art Park & Spacetaker, in conjunction with Winter Street Studios, present Sasha Dela, Jonathan Durham, and Dominic Walsh of the Dominic Walsh Dance Theater for the September edition of The Artist Saloon.

Every third Wednesday of the month, the salon and the saloon meet at The Artist Saloon where artists and art aficionados gather for drinks and casual conversation about art. Two to three artists from varying disciplines (visual, performing, literary, etc.) present, in an informal atmosphere, creative dialogs/talks/presentations about their work followed by a question and answer session where the audience can glean further insight into the artist, the artist's aesthetic and creative process. The evening is designed not only to bring together artists and those who appreciate the arts, but also to introduce local artists to each other to encourage conversation and cross-disciplinary pollination between artists and their chosen media.

Sasha Dela, originally from Atlanta, currently resides in Houston and has recently completed a residency at the Museum of Fine Arts' Core Program. Dela's work embodies her concerns regarding the intersection of ecology and the marketplace. Her sculpture, installation, digital photography and video investigate the complex issues surrounding resource use and the potentially unexpected and unforeseen outcomes of industrial production and its impact on culture, society, and its relation to ecology.

Jonathan Durham creates sculptural and collage works that combine nostalgic and contemporary elements in new relationships that question history and comment on contemporary issues. He is a recipient of an Artsbridge Fellowship from UCLA and an Aunspaugh 5th Year Fellowship from University of Virginia. Durham has recently completed a residency at the Museum of Fine Arts' Core Program.

Dominic Walsh left the Houston Ballet in June 2004, to devote his full energies to the development of Dominic Walsh Dance Theater which he founded in May 2002. The mission of Dominic Walsh Dance Theater (DWDT) is to challenge and to educate artists and audiences alike by producing art that represents the times. DWDT has an international reputation for creating a collaborative environment for choreographers, dancers, musicians, and designers.
