Texans DT Cedric Killings, who was almost paralyzed during Sunday's game against the Colts, arrived at the Texans practice facility yesterday, not to work out with his teammates, but to show them something none of them had expected: he was walking. A full recovery from the fractured vertebrae he suffered while attempting a tackle is expected, and he wanted the team to join in his celebration.

Surgeons at Methodist Hospital stabilized Killings soon after the injury, and have been monitoring his care since then. Killings will continue to rehab the injury near his home in Miami. A return to football is very unlikely, but the mere fact that he won't be wheelchair-bound for the rest of his life is an unbelievable success.
The Texans play the Falcons in Atlanta tomorrow, and several Texans players expressed their desire to come away with a win for Killings. Fortunately, with Joey Harrington running the Atlanta offense, it looks like this already inspirational story will have its happy epilogue.
