Houstonist loves good pop music. We’re not talking about Britney, or anything else you’d hear on local pop radio for that matter. We’re talking about good indie-pop. Catchy melodies, clever lyrics, and overall sophisticated (yet, fun). Well, that basically describes Chicago-based Office.
Office (not to be confused with the popular TV shows) originated in 2001, but Office leader Scott Masson didn’t get serious about it until 2004 – that’s when he left his job waiting tables, took out a loan, and took his chances. That gamble has paid off – great reviews, a tune crowned “Single of the Week” on iTunes, and a contract with a respected indie record label.
Office is working overtime (sorry, had to say it) on the road these days. They hit Houston tomorrow night, playing along side L.A.’s Earlimart and Houston’s own The Watermarks. We have a pair of tickets that we’d like to share with you (heck, we’ll get our own tickets and give you the pair – how’s that?). Just send an e-mail with your name and phone number to contest (at) houstonist (dot) com. The contest ends tomorrow at noon and we’ll contact the winner tomorrow afternoon after we finish lunch.
Good luck!
