::OpMom Web 2.0 Launch Party at Benjy's::

Unless you've been living under a Web 1.0 rock, you are probably aware that Houston has recently been a hot bed for Social Media Startups, as Brad Hem reported this weekend.

One of these ventures, the locally-based OpMom, tonight celebrates their own jaunt into Web 2.0 territory with a launch party tonight at the Lounge at Benjy's.

OpMom is short for Operation Mom, and is a social community for moms. In addition to offering web-based organization, it was created to offer moms a safer and more useful alternative to the catch-all social networking sites and traditional media outlets. There are no gimmicky reward systems, annoying pop-up ads or confusing navigation. Every mom is an expert in her own right, and OpMom incorporates the collective wisdom of thousands of mothers of all ages, sharing advice and ideas around the world's largest coffee table.

OpMom local Co-Founders Carrie, Marla & John cordially invite you to the Official OpMom.com Launch Party at the Lounge at Benjy's in Rice Village. Join us at a private reception with drinks, conversation & some of those legendary Benjy's appetizers.

Why come? First, because every great launch deserves a cool party. Their 6-month beta testing period was apparently a huge success, during which OpMom was named a Yahoo Pick and secured a partnership with Sony Pictures, among other things. Locally, OpMom was just selected as 1 of only 5 emerging tech companies to present at the Rice Alliance IT & Web 2.0 Venture Forum this November, and they are planning to announce a major national partnership later this month at the Marketing2Moms Conference in Chicago.
