Bring Back Andy Pettitte

Did you see the news Uncle Drayton? Joe Torre said no to the Yankees. Now it's your turn to make a move and pick up Andy Pettitte. That's right, Houstonist said it: "Bring back Andy Pettitte!" We know, we know. He left us at the altar and bolted back to New York for the bright lights and big city, but everyone deserves a second chance. We need him.

Pettitte has a player option of $16 million to return if he chooses, but it looks like the Yankees are in a major overhaul mode. Free agents to be are: Jorge Posada, Mariano Rivera, Mike Mussina and Roger Clemens. And don't forget about Alex Rodriguez who could opt out of his contract and become a free agent as well. His sights are on a $300 million deal. And the Yankees have already stated they will not negotiate if the opts out of his original contract.

So Uncle Drayton, pick up the phone and call Andy Pettitte and beg him to come back. He's averaged 15.6 wins and 217.1 innings pitched over the last three years. Imagine the front load of our 2008 rotation with Roy Oswalt, Andy Pettitte and Brandon Backe; who doesn't like that?

Houston is a forgiving town. The past is the past. The NL Central is up for grabs. You think their are better free agent options? Take a look and decide: 2008 MLB Free Agents. And for kicks, good ol' Roger Clemens can come back and pitch all Sunday home games.
