Retailist: Buffalo Exchange (numero dos)

buffexchange_header.jpg
With Halloween and office holiday party outfit shopping getting closer (although hopefully not one and the same, unless you work for one of "those" kinds of companies) you and your wallet need some quality thrift store shopping time.

Apparently our wish is someone's command - Houston's second Buffalo Exchange shop (249 W. 19th St.) is finally open in the Heights!

Sure they're tres pricey for a used clothing shop and a teensy bit snooty when picking through perfectly decent, fashionable clothing you are trying to sell to them so they can mark it up 600%, but hey - it's Buffalo Exchange. Whaddyagonnado?

We're not bitter, just in need of some serious shopping. Pronto! So see you there?

Details:
249 W. 19th St.
Hours: Mon–Sat 10 am–6 pm // Sun 12 pm–6 pm
Don't miss:
Designer labels, if that's you're thing. If you're a brand whore then don't be shy about slogging through the denim racks.
The damage:
Meh, it varies. Sometimes you'll get great deals, sometimes you barely pay less than what you would new. Diligent digging (and luck) can help you reap seriously good stuff.

how much $ did they offer to put this in here?

The genies at Buffalo Exchange are glad to have granted us all another Houston store, and our staff is excited about it! But please note we don't do markups... there's no mystery behind the process. Buffalo Exchange offers either 50% in trade or 35% in cash of the selling price. Come visit soon and bring your goodies -- we need more stuff! (P.S., we did not offer to pay for this attention, as commented.) We are thrilled to bring fashionable recycling into the Heights.

mcook, for the record, no one we feature in Houstonist pays to get coverage — we make those selections ourselves. Though if you want to send us some money, you're more than welcome.

Sorry, BE--I'm not buying it. There's no way you gave up to half of what you charge for some of the utter crap in your stores when it initially came in. And that's without the snide remarks and crappy attitudes from the sales people.

haha, fair enough Jim. it was more a knock against BE, not at all against Houstonist.
