Going Under The CyberKnife®
The U.S. Government has purchased a CyberKnife® Robotic Radiosurgery Systems for the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center in Houston, Texas. The CyberKnife Robotic Radiosurgery System is the world's only robotic radiosurgery system that treats tumors anywhere in the body. The system will be focused on the treatment of extracranial tumors, including lung and prostate. There are currently over 70 CyberKnife® units in operation in the U.S. and 39 worldwide and while the VA uses CyberKnife® to remotely cut up vets, M.D. Anderson is busy working on a study to compare treatment outcomes in early-stage operable lung cancer human surgery vs the CyberKnife® system.
HPD Gets A Little More High Tech
HPD will soon be getting a new crime data system which will share data between multiple public and private databases. This new technology will cost HPD around two million dollars with almost a million of that going towards software development. The new program should be in place and functional by January 2008.
