Houstonist iMix: November

Now that Halloween is over, you’ll start hearing Christmas music everywhere you turn – on the radio, while shopping, and from that annoying singing Santa doll on your cubicle neighbor’s desk. Well, we have a sanctuary for you from Michael Bolton singing “Silent Night”: the Houstonist iMix.

Our picks for November include a track from excellent new CD from now Austin-based Sam Beam, otherwise known as Iron & Wine. The latest from Seattle’s indie-pop Band of Horses and London’s M.I.A. (who makes a stop at Verizon Wireless tomorrow) are also included. We also added some newer artists that may be new to you, but you need to check out: Austin’s Future Clouds & Radar; Canada’s Malajube; Minneapolis’ Romantica; and England’s Richard Hawley. Finally, a couple of classics (or should-be-classics) including Stereo MC’s, Massive Attack, and Brewer & Shipley.

A reminder on how it works: Houstonist contributors submitted a song or two that they can’t get enough of right now. Then, we threw our tracks together and created our own iMix on iTunes. So, if you have iTunes on your computer, you can now download our iMix, or, if you’re afraid of commitment, you can download the tracks individually.

Let us know what you think, and tell us what's currently in high rotation on your iPod.
