::Cactus Records Returns with Dia de Los Muertos Art Opening::

The Cactus Sign

Yes, you read that right: Cactus Records Returns. You read the art opening part right, too. For the record. Heh. Pun totally intended.

Tonight, Houston's most beloved local music emporium, Cactus Records, hosts a Dia de Los Muertos artist reception to kick-off it's much awaited return. Artist Carlos Hernandez will be displaying paintings featuring dead musicians in honor of the holiday. Johnny Cash, Kurt Cobain, Patsy Cline and Jimi Hendrix will all be in attendance.

Cactus' new location at 2110 Portmouth, will officially open next week for the first time since the old store closed back in the spring of 2006. The new store includes a gallery that will feature music-based art for display and purchase. Tonight's opening will take place in the gallery, the Record Ranch.

The reception will take place from 7-10pm, and will include refreshments from Saint Arnold's Brewery. Mmmm, beeeer.

We will be on hand tonight to check out the new digs, and next week when the store officially opens back up to the public. Are you as excited as Tody Castillo? We are.
