What Time Is It?

catclock.jpg It's time for Daylight Savings Time again and since it is fall that means setting your clocks back one hour. So before you hit the hay, turn those clocks back an hour or if you are a night owl, change the clock at 2 a.m.

We can thank William Willet for first suggesting the idea of DST to British parliament back in 1905. Parliament refused and it wouldn't be until 1916 when the Germans would introduce DST and the rest of Europe would soon follow suit. The U.S. wouldn't adopt DST until two years later in 1918.

In an unrelated side note, Willet is the great-great grandfather of Chris Martin, whose band Coldplay, had a hit with the song Clocks a few years ago.

DST should be stopped. There is no more energy saving - or very little - since most folks don't alter their usage patterns. One time setting all the time. Then the folks in Indiana and Arizona won't be all that special anymore.
