New CD Releases: November 6, 2007

110507jayz.jpgThis week, we learn that Jay-Z is officially out of retirement indefinitely, that heima means home in Icelandic, and that Chris Brown is like a real grown-up!

So the new film American Gangster served as inspiration for Jay-Z’s latest album and made big bucks at the box office last weekend. Could this mean huge numbers for Jay-Z’s CD of the same name?

Chris Brown recently turned 18, and rather than make one of those albums that over-asserts a former child star’s independence, Brown recorded Exclusive, a collection of fun radio-friendly pop songs. Brown even wrote some of the lyrics this time around.

Cassidy sounds a lot more introspective on his latest CD, B.A.R.S. (near death experiences tend to do that,) sampling Nina Simone and recording a track with John Legend. That’s not to say he's opposed to recording another jump-off hit; “My Drink n My Two Step” was everywhere last summer.
