Teardowns of the week

...of the environmental kind - not the more erudite nature of Derrida or even deconstructivism (a la Gehry) - is taking place this week in Briargrove and Rustling Pines. 6219 Del Monte (picture) and 306 Wilchester (picture) will soon be upgraded to two stories, stucco, and granite counter tops, but pieces of the old houses seem to have been taken off for recycling. While we're not thrilled about perfectly fine houses being tossed out, it's kind of nice to know that they may not be completely wasted.

Willowend's...end

At least three more homes in pine-laden Willowick will disappear this week - and all within a couple houses of each other. 107, 119, and 122 Willowend (all close to the million dollar mark and 3,300+ square feet) are scheduled for demolition - 107 will be new construction by Charles Martin Custom Homes, 119 by Frankel Custom Homes (no design available yet, but they already list the price at $2.8 million...nice!), and 122 is a low profile brick modern home that we are hoping is just undergoing renovation. We found the morbid trend, though: the majority of homeowners on the street have the over 65 tax exemption.
