It was a good weekend for football in Houston, whether that means the one with the pads or the one with the round ball. But there were things happening in the Houston sports scene outside of RFK and Reliant Stadiums. As we do every week, here's a recap of what the blogs are saying about your hometown teams:

- The Dynamo are the big news today, so here's a fantastic live blog of the game from AOL's Fanhouse collective.
- Um, these guys are not very happy with Rafer Alston. Where have all the real point guards gone? The next time we see a "point guard" take a wide-open three pointer with 20 seconds left on the shot clock, we're burning down the Toyota Center.
- The Astros traded an outfield prospect for a proven middle relief pitcher, and signed a outfield defensive specialist from San Diego. Ed Wade's scorecard still doesn't have any loses this offseason.
- The boys at Battle Red Blog are all over George H.W. Bush's visit to the Texans' practice this week. Looks like whatever he told them worked, didn't it?
- Remember Geoff Blum? Used to play for the Astros, then hit a killer home run during the 2005 World Series for the wrong team? He's going to be back in an Astros uniform this year, possibly playing the same role Mark Loretta did last year if Loretta walks and the 'stros sign another 2B.
- ESPN's Jim Caple has sympathy for the poor New England sports fan after the Revolution's crushing loss to the Dynamo. The pilot has turned off the "no sarcasm" sign. You are now free to snark about the cabin.
- November means high school football playoffs, and rather than skip your favorite team, here's a round-up of this weekend's games.
- UPDATED: Sister site DCist had someone at the MLS Cup, and provided some great photos and coverage. Yay for family!
By this time next week, the Texans could have a winning record again, the Astros could have a new second baseman, and the Rockets will have T-Mac back. Check in here to see what impact all of those things had!
