The tryptophan has worn off, we all trudge back to work, and sit down to surf the web. Between another crushing Texans loss, the Aggies poaching one of the Texans' coaches, and the Rockets finally getting their act together, it was a busy holiday season for Houston sports. Let Houstonist do the surfing for you and bring you up to speed on what the web is saying about our teams:

- Ok, this is just the sort of b.s. that we as Houstonians shouldn't have to put up with from our major media outlets: The venerable Chron.com is looking for a Cowboys blogger. You read that right. If the New York Times is the Old Gray Lady, then what does that make the Chron? The Crazy Old Guy Who Shot His Own Foot And Is Aiming At The Other One (TCOGWSHOFAIAATOO)? DGDB&D sums up our feelings rather nicely.
- Dwayne DeRosario and Eddie Robinson are named to the MLS Best XI, equivalent to the All-League team in one of the other sports.
- If you think it's bad being a Texans fan, if you're worried about Matt Schaub as a long-term soution at QB, read this article from AOL's Fanhouse that suggests that David Carr retire. Ouch.
- Is Rafer Alston Towelie from South Park? We have no idea, but The Dream Shake seems to think so. Also: You're a towel.
- The Crawfish Boxes takes a look at the Astros 2005 Draft. One of Ed Wade's biggest challenges is making sure this sort of thing doesn't happen again.
- The Coogs got their bowl game, and it's right in their backyard. The Aggies are a possible opponent. This game should sell more tickets than last year's Kansas State - Rutgers snoozer.
- Hey, like pictures of local politicans posing awkwardly with athletes? Check out the attached photo on this article about the Dynamo's recognition by Harris County. Nice hat, Sylvia.
- A late addition to the links: We Rite Goode has a phenomenal breakdown of the fall of 1992, when Hakeem almost got traded. They compare it to the current trade market for Kobe Bryant and come up with some solid conclusions.
That'll do it for this week. The Texans aren't quite so bad that we're trying to figure out which draft picks to gun for, but it's getting close. The Rockets seem on the right track after the annual T-Mac injury, and the Astros' offseason machinations should make the next week interesting. Stay tuned, true believers!
