Thriftster: November 26 - 29

Spent all your cash on girlie drinks and shattered dreams again this weekend, didn't you? No worries - Thriftster gives you the lowdown on cheap stuff to do until Paycheck Friday.

thriftster_graphic.jpgMonday: Movie night!! MFAH (1001 Bissonnet St.) continues their $7 'Movies Houstonians Love' series with a pick by Dr. John H. Lienhard (the dude from NPR's Engines of Our Ingenuity) - No Highway in the Sky. Afterwards, steak night at Baba Yega (2607 Grant St.) beckons your already Turkey-swollen belly.

Tuesday: Get funky with the Achim Kaufmann jazz trio performance 8pm tonight at Christ Church Cathedral (1117 Texas Ave). $10 for students and free for anyone under 18. Since you're in the area anyway, treat your music loving self to cheap food at Mai's (3403 Milam).

Wednesday: Sure you could get all pretty/drunk and hit the Boys and Girls Club at 1415 (1415 California) or Cafe Con Leche at South Beach (810 Pacific) - but it would make you look way hotter to bring a date to the free screening of A Touring Taste of Dance Salad Festival at MFAH. And, you know, then get sloshed.

Thursday: Calling all camera nerds - head over to the Houston Center for Photography for Open Digital Darkroom Lab night! Scan, print and Photoshop to your heart's content for $7/hour and $0.05/inch printing.
