::The Orange Show Concert Series presents Charalambides & Alasdair Roberts::

112707_charalambides2.jpgBring on the folk artists! What we've come to know and love from the The Orange Show Center for Visionary Art, tonight continues to bring musical artists with unique creative visions to the intimate amphitheater of its namesake folk art environment.

Austin-based favorites Charalambides return to their former hometown of Houston to play fan favorites from their nearly two dozen albums and new works from the most recent release Electricity Ghost. Formed in 1991, this husband and wife duo has followed in the footsteps of other Texas psychedelic music artists such as Jandek and 13th Floor Elevators. Creating genre-defying songs using reverb, found sounds and extended instrumental jamming, Charlambides has earned legions of fans who praise their otherworldly tones and eclectic improvisation.

Armed only with his acoustic guitar and a powerful tenor, Alasdair Roberts entrances audiences with songs that feel at once both ancient and modern. Fresh from a tour opening for indie-folk harpist Joanna Newsom, Roberts new album The Amber Gatherers takes traditional folk and sets it spinning to create something refreshingly new but hauntingly familiar. Based in Glasgow, this former member of the Scottish folk ensemble Appendix Out has crisscrossed the world honing his craft, creating ethereal music that stirs the soul. It’s a performance not to be missed.
