Oh, Cholesterol how we loathe thee

101207_oysters.jpgWe have a confession to make. Merely two weeks into our low cholesterol diet, we've fallen off the low cholesterol wagon and dove into the chow wagon. But it wasn't our fault! We were tempted by an evil and sinister force: oysters. More specifically, Danton oysters. So, you understand, right? Right?

Confession aside, let's get to the nitty gritty--these oysters are anything but gritty. We walked into the place with full intentions to abide by the our diet. However, considering that the menu consists of Cajun classics (Po' Boys and Étouffée) and an amazing set of appetizers (like their signature Oysters Kyle), it was a miracle that we didn't explode from all the food.

But really, let's get back to the meat of the issue here. The oysters are divine. They are nice, plump and juicy and it is completely understandable why we had such a backslide into the depths of high cholesterol. It was worth it! These babies vary in size, but the flavor consistency is there. Best of all, you can justify it by saying that you HAVE to eat all those fatty oysters to support local businesses--Danton's only buys from Galveston based Jeri's Seafood. Need another reason to scoot over there? How about the great Happy Hour specials (that includes, you guessed it--half priced oysters), complimentary valet, a large dining room, and friendly staff? Yeah, we'll see you over there.
