Houston's Failed Citywide Wi-Fi Project
The biggest tech story of the year was Houston's failure to secure and provide wi-fi services for our tech savvy netizens. We covered this story on numerous occasions.
Houston Chosen As A Top 10 Tech City
Popular Science ranked Houston as a Top 10 Tech City. The best part of this survey is that Houston outranked Dallas, Austin and San Antonio.
Compaq Gets A New Logo
Compaq changed their logo and we picked up the story on August 12.
Houston Web-Based Apps Take Off
2007 was a great year for Houston based or Houston related companies who produced web based applications. Startups such as Natuba, iRazoo, YippyKya, HoustonBuddy and sk*rt were all covered by the Tech Buzz.
BarCamp Houston 2007
Houston hosted another successful Barcamp and a lot of heavy hitters came out to speak and participate. The event was well covered by many local techies.
iPods + Astros = Better pitching
In March we covered a story about how the Astros pitching staff was loading video of pitches thrown onto players iPods and using them to perfect their technique. This story upped the Astros geek factor with the Tech Buzz immensely.
