::Diverseworks Exhibit Opening Night:
Two exhibits we are particularly looking forward to seeing both open tonight at Diverseworks. An opening reception will feature a special performance by Brent Green's 3 Piece Band, MK Guth's Ties of Protection & Safe Keeping Interactive Sculpture, and the DiverseWorks Silk Screen Station where you can build you own t-shirt. And everyone loves t-shirts.
Since 1914 when the first animated film was made, artists across the globe have been providing us with access to animated worlds that live only in the imagination. Digital animation and virtual reality technology have propelled the art of animation to a level of realism and interactivity that was unimaginable just a few short years ago. Flicker Fusion turns DiverseWorks' main gallery into a virtual multi-plex showcasing an impressive collection of international artists pushing the limits of animation technology alongside artists employing more traditional, hand-drawn techniques to create works that are by turn insightful, stimulating, and downright hypnotic.
Agustina Nuñez: Little Polymorphous
In her first presentation in the United States, Argentine artist Agustina Nuñez comes to DiverseWorks for a site-specific installation incorporating an animated cast of characters painted larger-than-life on the gallery walls. Only these aren't your typical cartoons. Nuñez's characters, while colorful and sometimes playful, possess a mysterious and often menacing nature, leaving viewers engaged, amused and just slightly unsettled.
