Wine and Neoformalism at Avant Garden tonight

If good wine and hot artists make you feel warm and fuzzy, you should get yourself over to Avant Garden (411 Westheimer) tonight and mix, mingle and gawk for the closing of the Neoformalism1 show, curated by Ashley MacLean.

This show includes the handprinted black and white photographs of Traci Matlock, pieces by Japanese sculptor Keijiro Suzuki, color photographs from Francois Coquerel, and the paintings of Terrell James who's also been working on a permanent piece in the space for the last few weeks and has been collected by the MFAH, the Menil and the Whitney.

The art is great and some of it is literally created right before your eyes as Terrell brushes, fingerpaints and sticks various funky objects to a gorgeous, giant wall of color. Takes us back to the days when we liked to make handprints on our bathroom walls in toothpaste and we were grounded from cartoons for a weekend. Where's that wine bottle again?
