Thriftster: January 21 - 24

Spent all your cash on girlie drinks and shattered dreams again this weekend, didn't you? No worries - Thriftster gives you the lowdown on cheap stuff to do until Paycheck Friday.

thriftster_graphic.jpgMonday: Celebrate the work and life of Dr. Martin Luther King today at the Houston Children's Museum (1500 Binz) - reduced $3 admission gets you in for live performances (like a mock Civil Right rally and Dr. King's 'I Have A Dream' speech), art projects and Civil Right history exhibits.

Tuesday: Who doesn't like storytime, especially when you can couple it with a late-night frosty pint. Local drama kids Boo Town Theatre will be performing adult stories at Rudyards ( Waugh) at 10pm. Bring $5 and your favorite storytime pillow because chances are no one is going to let you sit on their laps.

Wednesday: In Houstonist-land, Hump Day means Happy Hour Day! Get over to Salud Winery (3939 Montrose) from 5-7pm for cheap wine, $8 pizzas and $4 bubbly.

Thursday: You've had history, storytime and booze this week already - so let's bring it back to some musical roots by hitting the free Beatles cover band Beetle show at the Continental Club (3700 Main St.) tonight from 7-10pm.
