McGrady Returns

After having missed 12 games with tendinitis, Houston Rockets star Tracy McGrady has returned to action as a reserve off the bench. McGrady scored 17 points, snatched 6 rebounds, and dished out 5 assists in a 96-89 victory over the Seattle Supersonics.

012208_tmac.jpgAfter the game McGrady exclaimed, “I’m coming of the bench and I’m struggling with one leg anyway, trying to keep up with these guys. Today was really bad.” McGrady went on to proclaim, “I had pain in my knee. It’s going to be that way because I can’t rest and let it heal all the way up.”

McGrady’s inability to crack the starting lineup may bleed over to the NBA All-Star game, scheduled to take place in New Orleans on February 17.

“Right now, I think I might have to pass on that. I’ll attend, but I don’t think I can play” stated McGrady about the mid season festivities.

McGrady is currently the second vote-getter amongst guards in the Western Conference. With voting having ended last Sunday, All-Stars will be announced on Thursday.

Unfortunately for McGrady, the NBA does not allow players to skip the All-Star game if they are healthy enough to play for their own teams.

This should prove to be an interesting story that unfolds in our very own backyard in the upcoming weeks.
