• Say goodbye to the trees on Kirby. Out of approximately 175 trees along Kirby only eight will be relocated, the rest will meet their demise in the wood chipper.

• In other tree news, 500 volunteers planted close to 3000 trees along North Shepherd.

• A 21 year old man is dead and a veteran Precinct 6 officer is fighting for his life after a shootout in a north Harris County apartment complex.

• Copper thieves stole the metal valves for the watering system of a Heights baseball field. Authorities estimate the amount of money the copper thieves got for the valves was around $40 while the repairs to the field will run about $6000.

• 1 in 5 kids in Galveston County have enough lead in their systems to cause learning disabilities and behavioral problems. Galveston's lead poisoning rates are 10 times higher than the national average.
