We're not claiming to be winos, but Houstonist is just like any other Joe Schmo who likes a good glass of wine. . .or two. Maybe three. That being said, we were more than thrilled to stumble (not literally—that comes
afterwards) across Sonoma Wine Bar and Boutique. Okay, so we didn't even bother checking out the "boutique" part, but do you blame us?
Even though there was an extensive wine list at our fingertips, we couldn't help but notice the the Happy Hour specials. They had us at 'Happy'. The specials included a decently priced red, white, and (our personal favorite) sparkling shiraz. As we sipped our first glass of wine, we notice that they also serve food here. Paninis, cheese platters, and all sorts of other goodies on the menu intrigued us, but we went with our gut instinct and got the margherita pizza. No regrets here! It was just what we needed to hit the spot—fresh out of the oven, the perfect amount of cheese and tomatoes, and a nice flaky crust. Plus, it was big enough to split with a friend. Sure the service was a bit slow, but considering that they were catering such a large event for the Social Media & Web 2.0 Happy Hour, we had no complaints. They also serve wine by the bottle for a very reasonable price and it only piqued our interest to come back and visit again soon. Oh, and don't forget that on Saturdays they sell all glasses of open red wine bottles at 50% off from midnight – 2 .am.
