As you might have heard by now, after five excellent years or celebrating the local music scene in every shape, size, form and capacity, the Proletariat is closing. But it's not going out without a bang. Start the your mourning period on Friday when the Fatal Flying Guilloteens, Cop Warmth, O Pioneers!!! and Whorehound rule your senses.
If you’ve never seen them before, there are three things you need to know about the Fatal Flying Guilloteens show this Friday, February 1:
1) They’re hometown heroes. These are five guys who have braved the local scene and made pretty much made it, being one of the few local bands under a pretty major label (French Kiss).
2) They’re musicians, but also performers. They will, we repeat, they will amaze you with intense, double-teaming riffs, pounding drums and sexy bass lines. However, they’ll also make sure you’re as much a part of the gig as they are. This ranges from the (somewhat) harmless crowd surf to exchanging any number of projectiles with the crowd, which have historically ranged from bananas to beer bottles.
3) As previously mentioned, The Proletariat is closing its doors for good the following Sunday. We can only imagine that the Guilloteens will milk the stage for what it’s worth, and a stage in its final days is nothing if not priceless. Multiply the usual FFG havoc by about 751 thousand and you will only begin to understand the insanity that The Proletariat is subjecting itself to that night.
We can’t say much else but be there. The only thing bigger will be Saturday night at the Proletariat...
