On this lazy, semi-holiday, it feels like the perfect opportunity to browse around the 'net and find out what's been going on with our local teams. Only the Rockets are actually playing games right now, though the Astros are gearing up for theirs in Florida right now. The Texans continue to be a topic of discussion even though the NFL draft is yet two months away. With that in mind, let's take a look at what's been happening:

- The Texans' cheerleader twins Larisa and Marisa made an appearance in Sports Illustrated's annual swimsuit issue. And what an appearance it is. You're not even reading this anymore. You already clicked the link. Monkey butt. See? You're not paying attention.
- Steph Stradley at AOL Fanhouse makes the case for former Oiler linebacker Robert Brazile's enshrinement in Canton. It's shocking that there aren't any players from the Luv Ya Blue era in the Hall of Fame, and it'd be great if Brazile were the first.
- ClutchFans tells us how Rockets GM Daryl Morey was in Europe scouting a player who's apparently a Pau Gasol prototype. If some of the Spurs' Euro recruiting juju comes to the Rockets, it might finally be the tipping point in their struggle to distinguish themselves in the West.
- DeMeco was a beast at the Pro Bowl. Didn't anyone tell him that the NFL's all-star game is as stupid and meaningless as the dumb-ass jerseys they have to wear? Oops. There are probably some NFC players with sore ribs who wish someone did.
- Crawfish Boxes takes a timely look at the Astros' new closer, Jose Valverde. We're just glad that we get to hear "Big Poppa" at the Juice Box. "In mansions and Benzes, givin' M's to my friends, and it feels stupendous" has long been our favorite rhyme of all time.
- The Dream Shake does a phenomenal job comparing the nail-biting Rockets-Kings battle with the Princess Bride. The last three minutes of that game were The Pain, indeed.
That's it for now. Check in on Tuesday when we preview the Astros' position players as they report for Spring Training.

Missed Connections: Gefilte Fish...and "Chain Connections"

Actually, there are a number of Luv Ya Blue Oilers in the Hall of Fame, but not Brazile.
Brazile is the obvious next choice to go into the Hall, but likely will not because he played his entire career for the Oilers and didn't get promoted for the hall.
As for the Texans cheerleader link, you might want to play the game of identifying which of the gallery pictures DO NOT contain the twins in them, but rather other cheerleaders who look semi-similar. There's at least three pictures in the gallery that do not contain Larisa or Marisa. I guess SI thinks all dark haired, dark eyed, tan cheerleaders are fungible.
