Congress to Single Out Roger?

o_1985_Roger_Clemens_Rookie.JPGJust when you thought that the return of actual baseball would distract us from the off-season drama, a Congressional committee has taken the first steps toward starting a criminal investigation of Roger Clemens on a charge of perjury in his testimony about whether or not he used HGH and other steroids.
But what about McNamee? Thusfar, he's home free: a draft letter that mentions Clemens--and only Clemens, not his former trainer--was drawn up by the committee last week, says the New York Times, citing an anonymous source. A congress referral would act basically as an official push on the justice department, but Congress doesn't conduct the perjury investigation itself: that's the job of the courts.
As a bonus, the article has lots of interesting political commentary. If you watched the hearings you might have noticed that the Dems seemed to think Clemens was lying, while the Republicans seemed to favor his version of events.

Meanwhile, Clemens is scheduled to throw some B.P. to prospects this week down at camp in Florida. As for that other Clemens in baseball, Koby's hanging in there, becoming a catcher.
