Or something like that. The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo's barbeque contest is happening this weekend and Houstonist thinks your tastebuds are as qualified as anyone's to make a judgement. Find yoiur favorite team or choose by the most appealing name on this listing and map of the area.

Besides lots and lots of stuff from the grill, expect to find mucho live music to give you a smile for one reason or another.


With the cost of admission to the World’s Championship Bar-B-Que Contest, enjoy a barbecue plate with all the fixings in the public food tent, The Chuck Wagon. Houstonist would like a stab at some of the competitors' barbeque, but you need to score special tickets for that.

Thursday, Feb. 28, 5 p.m. – 11 p.m.
Friday, Feb. 29, noon – 11 p.m.
Saturday, March 1, 11 a.m. – 11 p.m.
Location: The Astrodome!
Price: Reliant Park Admission Tickets

Daily: $7 adults / $4 children (age 3 to 12) / free for children ages 2 and under. Reliant Park Admission Tickets include one day’s admission to the World’s Championship Bar-B-Que Contest and carnival, Feb. 28- March 1, 2008, or to the livestock and horse shows, carnival, The Hideout (21 and older), and shopping and food areas, March 3 – March 22, 2008. Activities in Reliant Stadium and wine event activities are not included. During the World’s Championship Bar-B-Que Contest, a Reliant Park Admission Ticket provides the ticket holder with a free chopped brisket sandwich meal upon presentation of a ticket stub. Tickets can be purchased in advance through Ticketmaster or on the day of the event at the Reliant Park gates. Tickets are also available from a member of the Carnival Ticket Sales Committee.
