PING! College Baseball At Minute Maid This Weekend

As the Astros start their Spring Training schedule today in Osceola County, the college baseball season has been underway for a couple of weeks now. The annual Houston College Classic returns to Minute Maid Park this weekend as one of the premier regional showcases of top-level NCAA baseball.

Starting on Friday and continuing through Sunday, the Juice Box will be host to an almost non-stop flow of games. The teams participating in the tourney are: Rice, Texas Tech, Tennessee, Texas, Oklahoma, and the University of Houston. A full game schedule can be found at the Astros' web site here; each team will play in three games.

Tickets can be purchased for individual games or for the whole tournament. Single game tickets start at $13, while the passes are $30; the ushers are a bit more lenient at these games than at Astros games, so the prospect of getting really great seats becomes pretty easy. Fortunately, the weather this weekend looks to be pleasant; we once attended on of these College Classic games only to discover that MMP has no heating system and no way to copy with a spring cold snap.

With some of the teams on the schedule, there are very large local fan bases already in place, so go out and show your pride at Minute Maid, and enjoy the sound of metal bats resonating off the cavernous confines!

luckily the Coogs don't have to play the Owls again this weekend after blowing their big lead last night in the 9th inning... GO OWLS!
