It's March now; the freakish weather is in full effect and your allergies are making you wish the spring was a figment of your imagination. What better way to celebrate than to go outside?
We know: go outside and listen to good music, look at some great art and meet your Montrosian neighbors at The Free Press' Westheimer Block Party on Saturday, April 12. It looks like a veritable schmorgasboard of local goodness, folks.
If the opportunity to celebrate local musicians and art isn't enough, maybe you'll settle for a chance to watch And you will know us by the Trail of Dead (and a few other local bands) perform in Numbers for a measly $10. The Austin band released their previous album, So Divided, in 2006 but have reportedly been working on a new full length. Who knows? You might be given a glimpse into some of their new material.
Like last year, the music is spread out between Numbers, Avant Garden, La Strada, and Mango's Cantina, with the art interspersed in between. Hopefully, unlike last year, no transformers blow out power to any of the stages.
