Not-so-fresh off the heels of last year's Wild Mountain Nation, Portland's Blitzen Trapper swings by the Bayou City tonight at Walter's on Washington. Even though they're painfully under the Houston musical consciousness' radar, it'll do you some good to check their set out.
Released on Sub Pop Records last year, Wild Mountain Nation proved to be one of the strongest releases of 2007, although somewhat overlooked considering the heavyweights that ended up dominating the ridiculous number of year-end lists.
If lists are your thing, though, "Wild Mountain Nation" placed at no. 98 on Rolling Stone magazine's 100 Best Songs of 2007. Hopefully 2008 will be a good year for Blitzen Trapper, and we should help by giving them and openers Fleet Foxes from Seattle a nice Southern welcome. You never know; you might even like it.

i saw them open for david vandervelde awhile back, and they RIPPED IT UP. its fun to see the start/stop and diff styles that they go into, esp the mellow country harmonies that drift in. too bad my cd player got stolen that night, watch your valuables
