Live Music Calendar

We’ve got a busy week on the concert front. Our favorite duo from New York arrives at The Meridian tomorrow night. They Might Be Giants have been making quirky alt/pop songs for grown-ups over 20 years now, and a few albums for the kids that us grown-ups enjoy, too. Wilco’s Friday night show at Verizon Wireless Theater is sold out, but if you’re willing to pay a little, you can still get your hands on some tickets (believe us, it’s worth it). Finally, a great double-bill Monday night with Yo La Tengo opening for My Morning Jacket, also at Verizon. We're in concert heaven!

Also, check out the SXSW Overflow Fest at Super Happy Fun Land, nightly starting on Friday. The annual Hometown Showdown displays a wide range of Houston acts Saturday night at Warehouse Live. And, of course, the rodeo goes on with your usual country flare, but also with Grammy-winner R&B artist John Legend on Friday night.

Did we miss something? Let us know. Here’s the full week line-up. Local bands are noted by an asterisk (*):

Two to think about:

Teenage blues trio, Back Door Slam, from The Isle of Mann, will be at Warehouse's studio side Monday night. I caught these guys at sxsw last year and they are phenomenal. Definitely try to check them out, if you can.

English punk band The Cribs will be at The Engine Room on Tuesday night - they've got quite a buzz over in their homeland and put on a fantastic, bruising show.
