Morning Roundup: Strange love edition

Good morning, Houston. We're sure you remember Joshua Mauldin, the Arkansas man accused of burning his 2-month-old daughter in a Galveston hotel microwave last May, right? Turns out there's even more weirdness surrounding him: According to prosecutors, witnesses say they saw Mauldin having sex with his wife in an interrogation room days after he was arrested for nuking the baby. Houstonist's mom used to tell us that there's a time and place for everything — and we're pretty sure this wouldn't qualify. At any rate, the question now is whether the alleged police station sex should be discussed during Mauldin's trial: His lawyer callls it "another attempt to demonize him" and says the information would prejudice the jury. State District Court Judge Susan Criss has asked lawyers on both sides to prepare arguments about whether the information should be allowed in court when Mauldin, who is pleading not guilty by reason of insanity, goes on trial in the coming days.

>> HISD to reopen Key campus: Key Middle School, which has been closed since the fall because of air quality problems, will reopen after Spring Break, the Chronicle reports — assuming that a round of air testing this week shows that everything's OK. The school was closed after teachers, students and staff members complained that they had headaches, nausea and other reactions while they were in the building; inspectors from the city and others hired by HISD checked things out and found nothing wrong, but the district decided to close the campus after the CDC raised concerns. Since the school closed, crews have removed asbestos, replaced water-damaged ceiling tiles, installed new flooring, disinfected the ventilation system, improved drainage and replaced all textbooks and library books. Assuming inspectors give HISD the green light, Key will reopen March 26.

>> Today's weather: Whether you love sun or fog, you'll have a good time today: Looks like we'll have a sorta foggy start to the day, followed by plenty o' sun this afternoon. Expect a high of 68 with a north breeze, followed by a clear night with a low of 50.

>> In brief: Oil hits $107; gas prices at a national high ... Police: Man intentionally drove into group of people ... West U. considers banning cell phones in school zones ... How about a musical co-written by Larry Dierker?
